Busy year for Eastend hockey

Approximately 100 people involved in Eastend Minor Hockey gathered together at the Eastend Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 5th to celebrate the end of the hockey season.

The last time that Eastend held a Kinsmen minor hockey banquet was in 1998, and it was a great chance to celebrate the year’s successes.

Not only did the rink have two recreation teams and two league teams this season, but they also had the Sr. Jets hockey team as well.  The Novice team had a chance to see their new Wood River League Championship banner up close after winning the league title in February and several awards were handed out for all teams.

The Eastend Rink Complex also held a silent auction and the evening profited about $5,000 for the rink.  The room filled with cheer as people applauded Jeff Humphrey’s mention of the phase 4 completion of the rink’s lobby this season.

“The rink has never looked better,” Humphrey commented.

“It’s great to see the rink so busy again,” commented rink secretary and evening emcee Casey Ziegler.  “We hope to see everyone back again next season.”
